Coeliac New Zealand is reliant on the generosity and support from New Zealander's. We are grateful to those who choose to leave us a gift in their will, so we can continue our work. Of course you will want to remember family first, however donating just a small amount to coeliac disease can make a difference for the future to potentially your immediate family or the next generation.
Why support Coeliac New Zealand?
Coeliac New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation and receives no government funding. We support those diagnosed with coeliac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis and others on a gluten free diet. We also promote and educate regarding the disease and collaborate with manufacturers, medical professionals and support research into coeliac disease. In order to continue our work we rely on the generous support of people like you through donations and bequests.
We are committed to NZ research into coeliac disease and to improving the lives of those with the condition. Your gift in your will, or bequest, will help New Zealand for generations to come.
What we do
Coeliac New Zealand plays a major role in educating everyday New Zealanders about coeliac disease. We do this through our annual Coeliac Awareness Week campaign, through our appearance at the Gluten Free Food & Allergy Shows and through attendance at the annual Gastroenterology Conference and GP Conferences.
Additionally, we support research into coeliac disease - recently we have supported research into dental enamel defects which can be the first indication of coeliac disease, as well as supporting the research for the Immusan T Nexvax 2 vaccine which is being developed to treat coeliac disease.
We support both children and adults diagnosed with coeliac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis or those requiring a gluten free diet via our Helpline, support groups nationwide, regular newsletters, our magazine Coeliac Link, Facebook, website and the supply of resources.
Why have a will?
By making a will, you are deciding how your life’s work will live on. Big or small, you can choose to leave a gift to create a positive change in your community, in society and in your country. Your gift will make a difference to the causes and the people that matter most to you. A will allows for your wishes to be carried out without confusion after you have gone.
If you wish to leave a gift in your will to Coeliac New Zealand this can be for a specific amount, a percentage of your total estate or the residue of your estate after your other commitments have been met. How and what you decide to do is your choice. If you already have a will, adding an amendment, or a codicil, is an easy process. Simply contact your legal advisor for advice.
How to leave a gift in your will
If you do choose to leave Coeliac New Zealand a gift in your will, the following wording is suggested:
"I give and bequeath the sum of $___ (or a percentage, residue of estate or other asset) free of all charges to Coeliac New Zealand Incorporated to be used for its general purpose (or for a specific purpose) and declare that the official receipt of the organisation will be sufficient acknowledgement of having received this gift".
This then needs to be signed by both the donor and your lawyer.
We appreciate that your will is a private and confidential document but if you are considering leaving us a bequest, or have decided to, we would like to know so that we can acknowledge your generous support and keep you up to date with developments at Coeliac New Zealand. Please contact us for a confidential, no obligation, chat or call: 09 414 7467.

We are a member Include A Charity, helping kiwis understand how important and how easy it is to leave a gift in your will to charity.
We encourage every day New Zealanders to consider leaving a gift or a bequest to their favourite charity in their will (not forgetting family and friends first).
Gifts in wills form the foundation of many New Zealand charities. Without them, many charities simply would not exist. Leaving a gift is easy and it makes a real difference to the work that we can do in the future.
