Coeliac New Zealand is aware that the BioRevive at-home gluten test is now readily available in pharmacies throughout New Zealand. This is a self test for the detection of gluten intolerance. Screening tests for coeliac disease remain available through medical diagnostic laboratories and are funded with a laboratory request form from your general practitioner (GP). If you choose to use the BioRevive test, we recommend you follow it up with a visit to your GP regardless of the test result. You should not be on a gluten free diet before having any test for coeliac disease because it will affect the results. We would also like to emphasise that a small bowel biopsy remains the gold standard test to make a diagnosis of coeliac disease.
